Week 1 assignment
Remember to create and share a Google Drive folder With Me
So far I just have 3 folders shared with me... Jorge, Tiffany and Jasmine.
I want you to put your unedited pictures... and all of them that you have take for each weekly assignment. You can create a sub folder to put your edits in if you wish. Those should be posted to the blog too.
I would like you to take a conservative, elegant approach to your edits... no one button filters and special effects.. just clean, beautiful, full tonality photographs. Sometimes your work won't need editing.
Class Into — Week 1
Hi Class,
My name is Kye! I’m officially in my senior year here at AMC! I will be majoring in Sociology, and recently debating on minoring in the Arts! — I love anything art related from drawings, paintings, photos and especially music/poetry (yes, it’s considered art!). I look forward to our digital photography class this MOD and expanding my knowledge more in the photography world!
Yale University
These images were recently taken on my Iphone 12 Pro Max. I used portrait mode and tried my best to get good quality. But I tend to always walk through Yale campus. I am in love with the architecture and also learning the history behind it. There are many things you can capture here!
Introduction
Hello all! My name is Ryan Gentner and I am finishing up my bachelors degree in business management while working full time as a IT administrator for a software development company. My current hobbies are photography and hiking with my dog Nala. While I do know a bit about cameras and taking photos I am here to learn more about the editing side and brush off some of my old Photoshop CS2 skills I learned in high school.

Computational Photography and your Phone Cams
Why have I come around to thinking that using your phone cameras are a good way to take this class?
I just created this new video on computational photography and newer phone cameras... Why does it matter?

Edit on your Phone!
Yes, it is possible to do the class entirely on your phone. You phone cam has editing software built in and you can make many of the edits right on your phone that we would do in Photoshop. Go to YouTube and search for "edit photos on ....(fill in the model). Here is a series on the iPhone XR.
Why edit????
It all comes down to directing the viewer's eye to the focal point of the picture and to realize your intention of the image more fully. Try to have your focal point also be the source of light. Areas that are just as light will draw the viewer's eye away from the focal point. Watch some of my editing videos linked from the blog to get a sense of what I mean... you can do that on your phone as well...
Another tip, not all photos need editing... We are editing for quality not special effects... do watch a few of my videos... it is very important.

Introduction
Hi Everyone,
My name is Madison and this is my last year at Albertus as I'll be graduating in June. My major is Sociology, minor in Psychology. Fun fact- I'm getting married next month and can't wait! This class was an elective for me and I feel like it will put me outside my comfort zone and teach me how to take actual photos. I'm not much of a picture taker in general, so I can use all the tips I can get. I'll be using my iphone11 for this class and editing either on my phone or in photoshop. I already took photo 1 and I'm interested to see what kind of assignments we'll have. Looking forward to it! Below is a picture of my and my fiance' at my bridal shower.

Introduction
Hi, my name is Tiffany Chiles. I am a junior year at Albertus Magnus, and my major is Sociology. I was born and raised in New Haven, Ct; I have a 13 years old daughter and worked full-time at Amazon. I like to read books and articles about everything that goes on around the world. One thing about me is that I am a caring person who wants to help others in need.
I am looking forward to learning about Photography as it is part of my major. I love taking pictures, but this course might help me take better photos and learn how to edit them. I like taking a picture with my iPhone XR because of the camera, but I am thinking about upgrading it to a better phone to take better photos. I have used photoshop before, but it has been a long time.

What's up this week?
What is due this week?
First post....
- Say hello and post a short bio and what you hope to get out of this class... a picture is a nice thing to post as well.
-Please say what camera and editing system... that can range from "I will be using my phone and will edit on the phone using the software built into the camera app.... to ... I will be using my Nikon D800 DSLR and a desktop computer running Windows 10 and editing with Photoshop.
-Do look at images that feature the use of light and geometry using Google images... post one along with your own work and identify it as the reference image. A start on the first assignment is welcome... we will put it behind us by Monday Nov. 7th...
Set up a Google Drive folder and share it with me. Include a link to it in your post.
-I will take attendance on Monday morning, November 1. There are 2 attendance records each week.
-Please email me with any questions or concerns.

Welcome to Digital Photography I an II. Take a moment to watch the how to post video linked above. It is important that you respond to the email blogger sent you in order to join the blog. Only members can post and comment here. Class runs from October 25 - Dec. 16, 2021.
Once you get going, you will see that it is easy and intuitive... and so much nicer looking than the eLearning shell. Albertus is a Google Apps for Education campus, and Blogger is one of the apps available to you.
For the first week, I want you to get up and running and post a bio with a photo here. Please state what camera you will be using. If a phone, state the model. Download and install Photoshop using your Albertus credentials. (link above). You should have either a Windows PC desktop or laptop or a Mac desktop or laptop. A chrome book can't run Photoshop. If that's what you have, then you'll need to work on your phone to edit your phone cam pictures and upload to the blog from your phone... Another possibility is for you to work from any public computer on the Albertus campus.
This is a workshop class. To succeed, you need to post 6-10 of your best pieces, edited in Photoshop for light and focal point each week. Put everything you shoot in a Google Drive folder and share it with me using jnevins@albertus.edu A good ratio is to shoot 10 pictures for each "best image" you post on the blog.
