This picture were taken in (1st picture) Hartford CT, and the second one was taken in Daytona beach. I like to take pictures of older structures. The details is what captures my attention. This picture are taken by my iPhone 12 Max pro.
Two things to avoid are pictures of a whole building and shooting against the sky. If you expose for the sky properly and make it expressive that can work well... but too often, it is a blank, overexposed distraction. Move in close, fill the frame with compositional shapes and texture... and especially light. The best shot of the series is still the stairwell.
