See how the one above it has oversaturation and the blue elements on the steps gets clipped? Numbers one and three also suffer from that problem. If you over saturate the colors, what is meant by clipping is that detail goes away and the gradation of tones becomes flat.
The main rule of thumb when editing is similar to the oath "doctors take when they finally get their degree" first do no harm". Be gentle, work for the light and focal point, and quiet down areas that don't contribute to that focal point by darkening them slightly.
